Charlotte Dujardin Retires From Competitive Dressage

Three-Time Olympic Gold Medalist Announces Decision

British dressage rider Charlotte Dujardin has announced her retirement from competitive dressage. The three-time Olympic gold medalist made the announcement on her Instagram account on July 23, 2024.

Dujardin, 37, has been one of the most successful dressage riders in the world. She won team and individual gold medals at the London 2012 Games on horse Valegro. She also won team gold and individual silver at the Rio 2016 Games on horse Freestyle.

In her Instagram post, Dujardin said that she had made the decision to retire after a "long and difficult" year. She said that she had been struggling with injuries and had not been able to train at the level she needed to be competitive.

"I have decided to retire from competitive dressage," Dujardin wrote. "This has been a long and difficult decision, but it is the right one for me. I have been struggling with injuries and have not been able to train at the level I need to be competitive."

Dujardin's retirement is a major loss for the sport of dressage. She has been one of the most dominant riders in the world and has inspired a generation of young riders.

Dujardin said that she plans to continue riding and training horses, but she will not be competing at the top level.

"I will continue to ride and train horses, but I will not be competing at the top level," Dujardin wrote. "I want to thank everyone who has supported me over the years. I have had an amazing career and I am so grateful for all the opportunities I have been given."
