Boeing 737 Max to Face Justice

Settlement Marks Turning Point in Fatal Crash Investigation

Plea Agreement to Provide Closure for Victims' Families

**WEB, July 8, 2024 (5:47 PM)** - In a major development, Boeing announced Sunday that it had agreed to plead guilty to a criminal charge in connection with the fatal crashes of two Boeing 737 Max aircraft.

The crashes, which occurred in 2018 and 2019, claimed the lives of 346 people and led to the grounding of the aircraft worldwide.

Under the plea agreement, Boeing will admit to misleading regulators about the aircraft's safety systems and will pay a $2.5 billion fine. The agreement also includes a provision for victims' compensation.

In a statement, Boeing expressed its "deepest sympathies" to the victims' families and vowed to "learn from these tragic events and to work tirelessly to make sure that such an accident never happens again."

The plea agreement marks a significant milestone in the investigation into the crashes and is expected to provide some closure for the families of those who were killed.
